Do Not Take World Peace for Granted: Save Hong Kong from Sinking

History Repeats

Do not take world peace for granted. As Hong Kong becomes the battleground, will world peace last forever? What will the world become when Hong Kong sinks?  For Beijing, they would rather damage the city to seize greater control of it. Hong Kong was the one who represent freewheeling capitalism with utmost personal freedoms when it was colonized by British. Hong Kong was the world’s premier financial hubs for decades.

Oppression, violence and bullying go hand in hand. Oppression dose not differ from violence.  The fate of Hong Kong might be the fate of Taiwan someday. Can you resonate the suffering of Hong Kong? Will you voice for the freedom of Hong Kong? Will you remain righteous in any circumstances? According to the Bible, God expects us to be righteous and compassionate to others’ suffering and pain. God expects us to help the week and the oppressed.

Unarmed female protesters were beaten to the ground

Will there be chance for Hongkongers to live in a society without fear and oppression?  The social aura of Hong Kong has transformed fundamentally. They know they should not and cannot stay mute like they used to be. Peaceful protesters were being arrested as they fought for democracy and freedom in a peaceful manner. Still, the movement is not dying out. Unarmed protesters were beaten to the ground by police in full riot gear , including women. Some people loss their life and some loss their eyesight. Consequently, those who were at the front lines are forced to wear heavy protective gears, such as helmets and gas masks, to protect themselves from the brutality of the police.

▲Les Misérables Cast – Do You Hear The People Sing?

lyrics

Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes
Will you join in our crusade?
Who will be strong and stand with me?
Beyond the barricade
Is there a world you long to see?
Then join in the fight
That will give you the right to be free
Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes
Will you give all you can give
So that our banner may advance
Some will fall and some will live
Will you stand up and take your chance?
The blood of the martyrs
Will water the meadows of France
Do you hear the people sing?
Singing a song of angry men?
It is the music of a people
Who will not be slaves again
When the beating of your heart
Echoes the beating of the drums
There is a life about to start
When tomorrow comes

Now China is going to take away the city’s liberties for its self-interest. Britain is suffering from severe brain drain and British claims to open its doors to Hongkongers.

Government Oppression
Instead of concerning the warfare and safety of the general public, Governmental oppression is the execution of unjustified exercise of power under the guise of governmental authority, which are often accompanied with police brutality. Governmental oppression occurs when the government tend to arrest the masses in the name of national security with unjustified malicious purposes. Oppression, violence and bullying go hand in hand. Oppression dose not differ from violence.

The History of Hong Kong
Hong Kong was colonized by British for more than 150 years that Hong Kong island was ceded to the UK in 1842. Beyond that, China leased the rest of Hong Kong to the British for 99 years.Being a trading port, the economy of Hong Kong surged in the 1950s and became one of the world’s primer financial hubs.

Why are there protests in Hong Kong?

As the deadline for the 99-year-lease approached, Britain and China began talks on the future of Hong Kong. Both parties signed a treaty under the principle of “one country, two systems” in 1984, which meant that while becoming part of China, Hong Kong would enjoy “a high degree of autonomy, except in foreign and defense affairs” for 50 years. Thus, Hong Kong has its own legal system and borders. Thus, Hongkongers’ human rights are being protected, including freedom of assembly, free speech and freedom of the press. For example, Hong Kong was allowed to commemorate the 1989 Tiananmen Square crackdown.

Things Are Changed
The freedom that Hong Kong once owned is on the decline. For instnce, China expelled several US journalists and prohibited them from working in Hong Kong. The public broadcaster RTHK felt the pressure from Hong Kong’s government as they broadcasted an interview with the World Health Organization about Taiwan, etc.

Democracy Versus Authoritarianism

China and British completed the handover Hong Kong in 1997. The protests began in June 2019.  Hong Kong protesters has been fighting a rule that would allow extraditions to China. These protests aim to protect Hong Kong’s autonomy from China’s full control. At least for the moment,  Hong Kong is not exempt from the oppression from China. Freedom is worth fighting for no matter the cost. Hongkongers deserve human rights as people from other countries. Is Xi Jinping the icon of authoritarianism?

In the wake of peaceful protest movement, the city was engulfed in violent street battles. It’s the war between freedom and authoritarianism. And Xi Jinping is a radical networked authoritarian by blocking the news of the world and monitoring the internet of China. He aims to keep his people foolish and obedient. He wants to be revered by his people by treating him as God. That’s why he demolished the churches in China since 2018.

Economic Chaos in China

Business writer Wú Xiǎobō (吴晓波) detailed in a report that more than 240,000 Chinese Companies declare bankruptcy in 2020 from January to Febuary. In other words, nearly half a million Chinese companies close in first quarter of 2020. All Chinese businesses, large and small, have struggled long before the occurance of COVID-19 since 2016. The situation deteriorated during 2018 due to the trade war between China and U.S.

There’s a strong link between imperfection, unconditional love and posttraumatic growth. In truth, we can only witness unconditional love in the hard times. If you believe in luck or miracles, be aware of the seven deadly sins and the seven heavenly virtues. According to the Bible, no one will be exempt from life challenges, including the chosen ones (1 Peter 1:3-9). God expects us to stay hopeful and “rejoice in our sufferings,” because “trials of various kinds” are training to make us “perfect and complete” (Romans 5:3-6, James 1:1-27). It’s comforting to know that “God promises to make something good out of the storm” (Roman 8: 28). We fall and we learn. As we learn to humble ourselves, life gets better. The connection between the brain and stomach is bidirectional. Excessive sugar intake sabotages our immune system that 70% to 80% of our immunity hinges on our gut health. Memory loss and cognitive impairment are common symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease, all of which are highly connected to type 2 diabetes. Early signs of type 2 diabetes include chronic fatigue, irritability, frequent urination, vision problems and slow wound healing. Depression is prevalent in people with diabetes due to the fact that diabetes causes “structural changes in the brain.” It’s worth noting that muscle-building helps regulate blood sugar levels. There is growing evidence that high blood sugar leads to reduced muscle mass. Beyond that, there’s a strong link between sleep deprivation and emotional weakness Be aware of the power of tenderness, humility and subconscious mind. Generally, negative emotions root in the inability to forgive, vanity or pride. People suffer from suppressed anger. God is watching our every move. God sees through our motives. Mental health crisis is sweeping on a global scale because the core value of capitalism is incompatible with what human truly needs. Money cannot purchase inner peace nor unconditional love. Wealth incurs fair-weather friends, frenemies and snobs. I would say, inner peace is the utmost blessing from God. Trauma is highly linked to chronic fatigue and chronic illness. Take time to deal with your old mental wounds.
