美研究:胃酸逆流會腐蝕牙齒

American studies have pointed out that gastroesophageal reflux not only damages the esophagus, but also lead to tooth decay because acid reflux.  Researchers at the University of Tennessee and Tufts University have found that nearly half of patients with gastroesophageal reflux have severely teeth decay problems.The results of the study have been published in the Journal of the American Dental Association.

Gastric acid reflux can make the teeth thinner, flatten and sharpen,  and often lead to tooth decay. Many people have symptoms of acid reflux, but they do not know that acid reflux can potentially damage their teeth.The proportion of patients with gastric acid reflux in Taiwan is very high. Dining out is cheap here. Buffet is a popular options for the public crowd too. The fact is that binge eating or emotional eating is the common cause of GERD.  Besides, the elder prefer to lie down or sleep right after having the meals while they watch TV.  And the proportion of teeth decay of the the elderly is also very high for the elder.

 

美研究:胃酸逆流會腐蝕牙齒

胃酸逆流非典型症狀多,很多民眾往往未察覺自己患有GERD。很多人習慣睡前吃宵夜,或喝一大杯牛奶才上床睡覺,長久以往都可能導致胃食道逆流的情況。

 

美國研究指出胃食道逆流不只傷害食道,胃酸逆流至口腔,還會導致牙齒受損。美國田納西大學、塔佛茲大學研究人員發現近半數胃食道逆流患者牙齒受到嚴重腐蝕。胃酸逆流可能導致牙齒變薄、變尖甚至蛀牙,其研究成果已發表於「美國牙科協會期刊」。

 

研究首席作者美國田納西大學口腔修復學科副教授達拉妮‧坦特比羅珍表示,許多人有胃酸逆流的症狀,但不知道胃酸逆流會傷害牙齒。台灣隱形胃酸逆流患者的比例高,老人家習慣一邊吃飯看電視一邊吃飯,經常吃飽就躺或睡,或看電視就睡著了,而老人家牙齒受損的比例也相對高。

 

胃食道逆流發作時,胃酸會從胃部竄進食道,通常也會跑到口腔。研究人員解釋,胃酸帶有強烈酸性,可直接溶解牙齒表面,或讓牙齒表面變軟,胃酸會一層一層腐蝕牙齒,牙齒會變平變薄、變尖或出現孔洞。

研究人員用光學掃描儀器檢查受試者的牙齒、口腔狀況,追蹤六個月發現,將近一半的胃食道逆流患者牙齒受到胃酸腐蝕,與一般健康的人相比,胃食道逆流的患者牙齒受損情況更嚴重。長期胃食道逆流的患者表示雖然有服藥,但牙齒還是受到侵蝕。

 

醫師吳朋儒表示,牙齒酸蝕是因口腔常處於酸性環境。牙齒酸蝕成因分為外因性及內因性,外因性主要是酸性飲食,檸檬汁、水果醋、醃漬梅、酒類,運動飲料和手搖杯冷飲都可能成為加速蛀牙。醫生提醒飲料、零食不停手,口內持續高酸性的環境,也會造成蛀牙。很多人日常規律,但運動後必喝上一杯含糖或微甜的運動飲料,長久以往琺瑯質在高酸性的環境下軟化,若口腔內長期維持高酸性就容易蛀牙

 

醫生建議方法

1使用吸管喝飲料,減少酸性食物接觸牙齒

2不要頻吃點心或甜點

3 用餐後清水漱口,或嚼無糖口香糖

4剛食用過酸性食物,等十五分鐘以後再刷牙

5.使用低磨耗值的含氟牙膏及軟毛牙刷

6控制胃食道逆流的症狀,晚餐前四個小時盡量不要吃東西,至少忍2-3小時再睡。

 

▲醫生建議若是有敏感性牙齒的症狀,首到牙醫診所請牙醫師檢查是否有蛀牙,拍攝X光片可協助醫生做診斷,請牙醫師評估牙齒咬合面或接近牙齦的齒頸部是否有磨耗的狀況。
