Long-term sickness can be unbearable for patients with chronic incurable illness, such as cancer. Euthanasia is the termination of a deadly sick person’s life with an attempt to end their physical and mental suffering.
▲Voluntary euthanasia is the practice of ending a life in a painless approach. Voluntary euthanasia (VE) and physician-assisted suicide (PAS) have been a heated controversial issue for decades.
In 2009, some forms of voluntary euthanasia are legal in Belgium, Colombia, Luxembourg, the Netherlands, Switzerland, and Canada.
1) Against the will of God
2) Life is sacred. It devalues the meaning of life.
3) We shouldn’t make the law to force the doctors to execute assisted suicide. As I know, Christians are mostly against euthanasia, which is chiefly based on their beliefs that life is a gift given by God and human are not given the authority to end it.
Active euthanasia can be done giving a patient overdose of pain-killers, which lead to death. Passive euthanasia can be done by withdrawing or withholding treatment, such as switching off a machine or giving up a surgery in which keeps the patient alive.
Voluntary euthanasia occurs at the request of the person who dies. Non-voluntary euthanasia occurs when the patient is unconscious or lack of ability to make a decision on their behalf. The subject can be a baby or a patient of low intelligence.
