車諾比事件,是1986年4月26日於蘇聯烏克蘭普里皮亞季市車諾比核電廠發生的核子反應爐破裂事故。是歷史上最嚴重的核電事故,是首例被國際核事件分級表評為最高第七級事件,主因是反應爐進行緊急停機後的後備供電測試時,因操作人員的訓練不足,最終使功率急劇增加,而使反應爐被破壞。
